Operations and Health & Safety: Boiler Room
Background
Boiler room is an online music broadcasting platform and club promoter established in London, 2010. It hosts predominantly dance music focusing on underground genres, and has built a unique portfolio. with over 8,000 performances by more than 5,000 artists across 200 cities. On social media, Boiler Room is followed by 1.6 million people on Instagram and subscribed by nearly 3.5 million people on YouTube.
In 2021, the OPS team worked alongside our colleagues in The Fair’s production team to support Boiler Room with their at Three Mills Island. This year, OPS worked to ensure the safe delivery of Boiler Room at Burgess Park.
Challenges
Producing and safely managing stages that enabled the public to join DJs on stage, as part of the Boiler Room Open Dancefloor
Ensuring a quick turnaround following an event at Burgess Park the day prior
Working in line with the license, considering noise levels and curfew, at a venue we had never worked at before
Coordinating with multiple security teams to make sure all areas were covered, ensuring effective deployment
Having to redesign the PUDO route – taking in consideration route closures already happening at Burgess Park
